|First Appearance||Cartman Gets An Anal Probe|
These four boys are students at South Park Elementary who go to the same bus stop for school every morning. Though they rip on each other nearly constantly and fight frequently, these four are together through thick and thin as long as the fates allow. Whether it's extracting anal probes, spending the holidays with talking poo, fighting Mecha-Streisand, going on accidental trips to Afghanistan, getting beaten up by Trent Boyett, sending animals home to the moon, writing filthy novels, pulling pranks on presidential candidates, saving their town for the fortieth time, or just picking on Butters and limey Europeans, these four boys will be together until the end... somehow or another.
When there is an absence in the group of any sort, it is usually filled by Butters Stotch, though at one point Tweek Tweak was the fourth member of the boys' gang, and very briefly once, Bebe Stevens.
- A member of the boys can be spotted in every episode (and game) of the series (though sometimes silent or hidden) except for "Pip" in season 4, "A Million Little Fibers" in season 10, and in "Handicar" in season 18.
- All four characters to occupy the fourth official slot in the group - Kenny, Butters, Tweek, and Bebe - are blonde.
- Butters Stotch has appeared in replacement for Kyle in "Cripple Fight", for Kenny in early season 6 episodes such as "Freak Strike", for Cartman in "Tsst", and for Stan in "Ass Burgers".
- Though the group remains known only as The Main Four, Butters and Jimmy Valmer frequently accompany them in newer episodes, such as the "Imaginationland" trilogy, "Super Fun Time" and "Pee", and share a roughly equal spotlight with the boys in "South Park: The Stick of Truth"; only the six can partner with the player.
